Hypnosis for Birth is a one day workshop designed for couples/mothers looking to deepen their preparation for labor and delivery, and for those who have no time for weekly classes. In this workshop we focus on:

• Removing fears and anxieties related to labor and delivery
•  The Chemistry of Labor – emotions and their relationship with hormonal production in labor  example: love, peace, trust = oxytocin  -  fear, anger, distrust = adrenaline
• Hypnosis designed to manage each labor wave one minute at the time. One minute scripts.
• Using  self-hypnosis as a tool to prepare for labor, sleep in the late weeks of pregnancy and strengthen your resolve to obtain the birthing experience you deserve and desire
• Partner support – learn how to support her emotionally, physically
• The best laboring positions – learn how to dance the labor dance with your partner. Pushing positions best ways to help your baby gently come out without tearing
• Find your voice, conversations at the hospital and with your doctor – learn how to enroll people to support you versus ask for their opinion or permission
• Learning how to reach a state of total relaxation in seconds so you can ride the wave of labor one-minute at
• Learning your baby’s role in the birthing experience
• Learning hot to meet your baby using the five senses

I began working with Giuditta (both in person, in workshop and through her CDs and book), believing that mental and emotional preparation would be as important as physical care in having the natural and painless childbirth I desired. I believe that Giuditta’s guidance using hypnosis was crucial to my ability to manage contractions and the discomforts of hospital interventions (IV in my hand, mandatory bed-rest after magnesium sulfate was given) without an epidural or other anesthesia.  She was able to lead me into a deep state of relaxation and near-sleep between contractions, even during the intensity of active labor. At the end, she was able to assist me in laboring in a squatting position despite being confined to the bed (which I didn’t even know was possible!) and delivering in a reverse squat, leading to a quick and easy pushing experience, no tearing and one very happy mommy and baby. Is a baby care workshop facilitated by birth and postpartum doula Giuditta Tornetta following her hypnosis for birth class.

In this class we’ll learn how to use your five senses to meet and welcome your baby at birth, how to use your five senses to meet and welcome your baby at birth. You’ll learn how to recognize your baby’s language and how to talk to her. We’ll explore the wonderful world of babies and will learn the basics like diapering and bathing, cord caring and baby appearance. Daddies and partners will learn how to hold the baby in different positions and how to become the baby soothing experts. We’ll explore day-time and night-time rituals, confidence building, baby games.

We will also explore your baby’s basic right his/her needs, co-sleeping, baby wearing and baby moon. PLUS:

• How to welcome your baby into the world – the first few hours
• Baby appearance at birth
• Bathing, diapering,
• Soothing techniques, understanding baby’s language
• To swaddle or not to swaddle,
• Baby gear what you should have,
• Introducing your pets to the newborn

4 days in Ubud

• Arrival on October 12, transport to hotel/resort welcoming ritual open yourself up to a re-birthing experience. Giuditta will  guide you through a re-birthing meditation and welcome ritual.
• October 13th through 15th the journey begins learn about your own entrance into this world (your birth) get in touch with your unique gifts meant to heal not only your soul but the entire world. 6 days at the drop dead gorgeous  Mimpi Resort with natural spring water hot tubs, and delicious organic food.

Explore womanhood, sexuality, and your life purpose. Align your chakras to birthing a new self, learn advanced midwifery and doula techniques, with Ibu Robin and Giuditta)  become an expert in side-lying massage. Explore the depths of your womanhood. Discover the natural gifts of Mother Earth and learn how to recognize food and healing herbs in the wild. Sublime pampering with spa treatments and massage (available as extra). Rachel Love writes  “Sitting or lying with our bodies connected to Mother Earth, we’ll begin with a guided meditation connecting us to the earth, our lineage of wise women and activating the healing in our hands and our dna within us that holds the wisdom of healing.  Then we will walk bare foot, listen to the earth, ceremoniously gather herbs, make medicines infused with prayer and do partner giving and receiving energy work on each other.  Additionally, we’ll learn how to get the most vital nutrients from wild and cultivated local plants and discover plant allies to help us with many common ailments.”

We will also have amazing guest teachers on: cranial sacral modalities, and watsu  and poetry who will help you refine your purpose and life appreciation. In Mimpi will will pamper Ibu Robin and be cuddled by her poetry and her husband’s music.

 Following completion of this workshop you may volunteer at Bumi Sehat, Ubud, Bali, and explore the art of helping women give birth gently and naturally (births attended at this location can be used for certification purposes.)  Also you will be able to obtain 10 CEUs valid for re-certification through DONA international.

By loving ourselves and Mother Earth as well as our own mother and ancestors we can become a better instrument of God’s healing to this world. Your retreat leaders, Giuditta & Ellen, are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment using hypnosis, journal writing, massage, movement (i.e. belly dance and ecstatic dance designed to keeping the pelvis open,) and guided imagery. Each of us will have the opportunity to recall our lives while in the womb, and re-experience our own birth.

Facilitators

Robin Lim: 2011 CNN Hero  is a mother, grandmother, author, poet, midwife and educator who lives in Bali with her husband and children. Ibu (mother) Robin is a Certified Lay Midwife, with the North American Registry of Midwives and Ikatan Bidan Indonesia. She is a founder and executive director for Yayasan Ibu Bumi Sehat Birth Center in Bali. Lim splits her time between the birth center and the Tsunami Relief Clinic in Samatiga Aceh, Sumatra. Along with receiving babies, Ibu Robin is an author. Many of her articles, stories and poems have been published in Midwifery Today magazine and The Birthkit newsletter. Ellen Watson: Ellen Watson is celebrating her 25th year on staff at Esalen Institute, where she studies, practices, and teaches various modalities of moving meditation practice. A licensed minister, Ellen believes that the core of all healing begins in the realm of the heart and the Spirit. Among her great pleasures are opening the door for people to dance, to sing and play and pray, to touch and be touched. Giuditta Tornetta: Giuditta is a certified birth doula, a certified lactation educator, a certified clinical hypnotherapist, and a certified shiatsu therapist.
