Fourth Month Meditation – Cutting Ties That Bind You

Excerpt from Painless Childbirth: An Empowering Journey Through Pregnancy and Birth
Immerse yourself in a warm tub, and let go of all that no longer serves you. Close your eyes and imagine long silver strands connecting you to those people, places, things and thoughts that are no longer acceptable in your life. Ask God to give you shears of light, and with loving thoughts begin to sever all ties that bind you to each and every person, place and thing that takes away serenity from your life. As you do this, send forgiveness, love and good wishes, and let go peacefully.
You are protecting yourself and your child; you are making room. You might need to do this paring more then once before you can feel you have truly let go. Don’t fear. It is okay. Cutting ties with those who encumber you doesn’t mean you will never see these people again, never talk to them again. With this spiritual pruning you begin to learn to release the negative hold they have on you. You are making room for your baby, clearing away knots that shadow your life. Trust in God, the Celestial Gardener. He does not close a door unless another is ready to be opened. Now that you are free from bonds prepare yourself to receive.
Put yourself into a child’s pose.

Begin on your knees, sit on bent legs, and let your body fall forward, forehead on the floor, while your arms are stretched alongside you. This is the “seed” position. Close your eyes and imagine you are a seed deeply embedded into the earth. Take a deep breath in and allow yourself to visualize what it would be like to sprout tiny roots into the soil, and slowly emerge into the beautiful plant your are meant to become. Get into the feeling of being a seed growing toward its future.
Cherish every moment of being a seed; make sure that each element of your sprouting body supports the rest of the growth. Don’t be impatient and raise your head above the ground too fast, knowing that your stem is too long for the weight of the first two leaves, or that a brisk wind would crush your small body. Allow yourself to grow slowly just as nature designed. What kind of a plant are you? Are you a tree, or a vegetable that brings joy to someone’s lips? Are you a fragrant flower that will inspire a smile? Ground yourself in your soil and take in its nourishment.
Immerse yourself once a day for the next seven days into this feeling of being a child seed. Each day will bring you new insights and bring you closer to the seed that is sprouting inside your womb. You will then understand what your baby is going through and you will be able to commune with the new sprouting life and grow your inner self as well..
