Supplies To Take To The Hospital
” Today, I will get ready for my journey to and from the birthing place!”
Try to pack as many of these things in advance as possible. Think about what will make you feel comfortable and will help you relax and will inspire warm fuzzes. Use this as your check list:
For Your Use During Labor
- Oil or cornstarch for massage (unscented oil is best)
- Lip Balm
- Toothbrush
- A cuddly gown and robe, warm comfortable socks and slippers
- Rolling pin or camper’s ice pack for cold pressure massage
- Tapes or Cds of favorite relaxing music and tape or cd player
- Pictures, teddy bear any personal item you like to bring with you. Don’t worry what people think. You are the queen of your birthing day and you can bring what makes you feel comfortable. I hugged my teddy for hours!
- Favorite juice, popsicles or beverages like Gatorade in a cooler. You might not like what they have at the hospital and drinking is essential while birthing.
- Phone numbers of people to call during or after labor
- Change or prepaid phone card. Sometimes you cannot use your cell in certain hospitals.
- Video or still camera so you can take a picture.
- Your BIRTHING PLAN.
- All the toilet articles you like to have for the time following the birth. Bring make up if you like to put a little on for your guests, it’s okay.
- Make sure the car always has a full tank of gas, and that your have a pillow and a blanket in the car for before and after.
For The Baby
- Clothing – diapers, undershirt, gown or jumper, receiving blanket and crib-size blanket
- Car Seat
